Dr Christopher Hand is a Psychology lecturer at Glasgow University and he has done lots of research specialising in Catfishing and understanding the reasons why people Catfish.
During my interview with Dr Hand I asked him questions about why people Catfish, but also why people feel the need to have anonymous accounts. What I really wanted to find out were the reasons why people feel the need to hide behind their screens, it it because they are all manipulative or are they just shy? Dr Hand's professional opinion was key to my understanding that there are some people who have particular personalities that make them much more prone to Catfishing and building anonymous profiles online.

Dr Hand's professional understanding really helped explain the different personality types and how one is more likely to enact dangerous online activities to other people.
He explained that people who show signs of Machiavellianism are more likely to enact certain types of deceptions than people who have a personality type that is not included in the dark triad.
I also spoke to Dr Hand about the current legislation in regards to Catfishing, and how New South Wales have implemented a new law regarding it.
