What is online anonymity?

Online anonymity is the idea that individuals are able to create and log into social media accounts and there is no requirement for them to use any form of genuine identification, other than a mobile number or an email address.

There are some forms of online media, which require passport verification to be essential before an account can be set up. For example, Bitcoin and some other sites need this in order to sign up to them.
